Ear wax is not a major problem, until it becomes impacted . It can be relieved quickly at home . However, ear wax buildup can cause serious conditions like vertigo, tinnitus and temporary ear hearing loss. One can relieve ear wax and thus all these conditions using simple remedies.
Ear wax is a waxy, sticky material which can develop inside the ear canal. It is actually good for the body because it protects the ear canal from pathogens and also assists in cleaning. Excessive amount of wax however can lead to lot of problems. The signs of wax build up in the ear can be felt by the person.
- A change in hearing level. Mild hearing problem.
- Increased sensitivity to sounds from the inside of the body, specially when alone in quiet environment.
- Pressure in the ear.
- Ringing sound in the ears.
- Itching sensation in the ears.
- In severe cases, there may even be vertigo.

Ear wax removal home remedy .
1. Warm water
One may be wondering how water is beneficial for the ear.Just boil some water and then cool it to a temperature which can be tolerated by the skin. Cool it a little further because the ear drum is quite sensitive. Then, push some amount of water into the affected ear using a vial with a small hole in it. One can also put warm water in the ear without pressure, but this may not dislodge the wax as quickly and one may require more number of tries. If this is not working so effectively, dissolve a pinch of salt in that water. Salt water is more effective in dislodging wax from the ear canal. But, excessive use of salt water can cause deposition of salt in the ear. Just by using simple water one can take out the wax build up in the ear and get rid of any problem that is caused by this.
A bulb syringe is a powerful way to dislodge the ear wax. Use the bulb syringe with warm water near the sink. One may be able to get out ear wax.
2. Olive oil
This oil can be used to pour in the ears. Warm olive oil slightly. Then, put it into a vial and squeeze 3 to 5 drops of olive oil in the ear. Let it stay there for 5 minutes. Move the external ear to move the oil inside the canal in different directions. Finally, invert the ear to drain out the olive oil. Now, use warm water to drain out the olive oil left in the ear. This comprehensive cleaning process is great for taking ear wax out of the ear canal.
If this remedy does not work in the first go, then probably the wax has dried out or impacted. In that case, put warm olive oil every night for about 5 nights. Drain it out within 5 minutes. By the sixth day, ear wax should be quite loose and detached from the canal. Use warm water to flush it out.
3. Garlic oil
This oil is made from garlic and has powerful activity against the bacteria which may infect the ear. Garlic oil should be mixed in olive oil and then put in the ear just like olive oil is put. Use just a few drops of garlic oil in a vial full of olive oil. It heals the ear and can extract ear wax as well as relieve other ear conditions which may be caused by an ear infection.
4. Baby oil
Even baby oil is a feasible remedy for removing ear wax. This can be used if pure olive oil is not available. One can also use organic, sesame oil to remove ear wax from the ear. Other powerful ear wax softeners are peanut oil and turpentine. 
Add equal amounts of water and vinegar. Warm them up slightly and then use a bulb syringe to drive it into the ear canal. Drain it out by standing near the sink. Vinegar is also helpful in cleansing the ear off wax. But, one should not use undiluted vinegar into the ears.
6. Move the Jaws
As a daily exercise, move your jaws up and down for about 3 – 4 minutes. This simple exercise helps to bring ear wax to the outside in the long run. It can prevent ear wax build up and one can easily remove the ear wax using olive oil. A Useful Tip that goes well with this exercise . Keep massaging the ear often. Use fingers to pull on the ear in different directions. This also assists the ear in unclogging the ear. This can be used by adults and also for kids to keep ear canal healthy and working fine. During bathing, do not allow water to enter the ear as it can clog the ears.
There are not many remedies for ear wax removal. Other than these remedies, one can also use ear wax removing solutions which are specially formulated to remove ear wax. They work by softening the ear wax.
However, one should be extra cautious when performing any of these remedies.
These are important precautions to follow while removing ear wax at home.
- The temperature of any solution going inside the ear should be exactly 38 ° C . This is to prevent damage to ear drum.
- Avoid using chemicals like hydrogen peroxide in the ear.
- If you have ever had ear tubes, do not use home remedies for ear cleaning. It is extremely dangerous.
